Amber Schrimsher
Administrative Manager

Amber joined the team in early 2014 and keeps things organized and running efficiently for the whole team. She’s our director of first impressions and really enjoys getting to be a part of the restoration process without getting her hands too dirty. Amber’s penchant for organization, scheduling and crunching numbers is an integral part of the team to help keep them functioning in high gear so they can save as much of Florida’s history as possible.

Mark Akers
Shop Manager

Mark has extensive experience building commercial and residential historic projects. He leverages nearly 20 years of craftsmanship and team leadership in Central Florida working with an array of tools, technology, and materials to ensure product excellence. In his spare time, Mark crafts home furnishings from reclaimed materials and enjoys camping and spending time with his family.

John Morris
Site Manager

John has over 17 years in the construction field. As a well established carpenter in residential carpentry, he has also worked commercial projects as well with experience in framing, trim carpentry, and woodworking. A life long Floridian, he has watched his state and community expand and flourish into what it is today. When he’s not working he enjoys spending time with his family watching his little girl grow up, going to the beach, and fishing whenever possible.

Karen Casey
Senior Craftsman

Karen is a sentimental Florida native who has always enjoyed history and nostalgia. After 15 years in the picture framing business and working for another window restoration company, she joined the Austin crew in the summer of 2013. Giving new life to historic buildings and the communities to which they belong is work she finds most rewarding. A bit of a workaholic Karen loves restoring historic windows to their former grandeur. Her free time is spent scouring record store for obscure music, baking cupcakes and drawing comic superheroes.

Jordan Klima
Senior Craftsman
Jordan began apprenticing with Austin in December 2012. Starting with next to no experience in restoration trades he has grown to be very well versed in a variety of preservation trades. Window restoration, painting and plastering have been the trades he enjoys most and has honed his skills in those areas. When not on the job Jordan spends his time studying for his theology degree in college.

Keith Wilson

Keith’s interest in historic preservation started after visiting Colonial Williamsburg as a child which led him to study architecture in college. After taking a dance class he switched majors  and was eventually performing around the world and on Broadway in shows like Cats and Hello Dolly! with Carol Channing and performing for many years in a variety of shows at Walt Disney World. Switching back to an architectural career with Austin has been a welcomed change and he’s honored to be working with an incredibly talented group of preservationists.

Shawn Walsh

Shawn has always been interested in building things. A native Floridian and youngest of 8 children he grew up under the guidance of his father and brothers doing home improvement projects over the years. His father and grandfather operated a painting and wallpaper business for years making him a third generation painter. His background isn’t just in painting, having worked in musical theatre for the last 35 years all over the country. Shawn is always learning new trades and is humbled and blessed to be working with such a varied and talented group of friends at Austin.

Gerhard Bunge

Gerhard came to Austin in mid 2016 after working around Sanford Florida gaining experience with old homes there as a carpenter’s assistant. He is a Florida raised German transplant who has an appreciation for all things old and historic. He is a big fan of mid-century modern homes and furniture and one of his major passions is vintage vehicles which he spend a lot of his free time restoring. When not at Austin he’s most often spending time with his daughter.

Marla Mirabal

Marla has extensive experience in decorative painting. She received a BFA in art from UCF in 2000 and began her career as a scenic artist working on many projects for the theme park and entertainment industry. She travelled the country painting murals which led her to gain a deep appreciation for all things historic. She then altered her career from painting new murals to restoring historic ones. Marla is happy to be off the road and back in Orlando. She is proud to be giving back to her community by preserving its architectural history for future generations. During her free time she enjoys spending time in her studio and with her dog Madame X, aka Max. She also enjoys time with family, friends, and hiking the mountains of western North Carolina whenever possible.
